19/3/21 Day 27

TODAY'S VERSE: 19/3/21 Day 27

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

I have a two-year-old and three-year old who ask questions all the time. I expected them to always ask ‘why,’ but I’ve noticed recently it’s become “what’s that?” Some of those are easy to explain- it’s an object they haven’t seen before or a word they don’t understand yet. Some things are hard to explain no matter what age you are.

How do you tell a two-year-old what “hope” is? To my kids that could just mean our church home. It’s the deeper meaning behind the word that’s trickier to explain. Hope is this thing that means you can anticipate something better. The dictionary defines hope as “looking forward with desire and reasonable confidence.”

We all need hope, especially in the middle of a rough time. Scripture tells us hope is an amazing gift from God. It says “may the God of hope fill you” meaning you can receive hope from God no matter what you are going through.

The good news is we have a God of hope on our side. We all, no matter what age, need this understanding. There’s joy and peace that can be found even in the middle of our trials. It comes from understanding this gift of hope and letting it overflow in your life.
