26/2/21 Day 9

TODAY'S VERSE: 26/2/21 Day 9

“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.” Ephesians 1:3-5

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

I love a lot of things about Paul’s letter to the church in Ephesus.  One of those things is that Paul doesn’t find himself needing to clean up a mess, and so he is free to simply remind the believers of how incredibly blessed they are to have a God who loves so abundantly and generously. Of course, reading this letter 2000 years later the same is true of us and so we are invited to read these words and understand that we too have been given every spiritual blessing because of Jesus. We too are loved and chosen because of Christ, and that God making this available to us gives God great pleasure!

This is such incredibly good news for us that it’s difficult for us to fathom it. But what if we asked Jesus, through the power of his spirit, to help us believe and know that we are indeed blessed with every spiritual blessing? To go through the day knowing that nothing formed against us can stand because of Jesus? The really good news is that we don’t strive for these gifts- they are given to those who call on Jesus for their strength, and this is what God wants to do in us, for us, and through us!

TODAY'S PRAYER:

Gracious God, you have given me everything I need for today. Thank you. Remind me that because of Jesus’ sacrifice, I belong to you and that you delight in me today and every day. Help me to reflect your perfect love today, that others may see a glimmer of your glory. We ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
